World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and PvE Damage.

For example a weapon that has the upgrade template ending in % will suffer 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a stat boost or to add an additional effect. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue before a component can be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used one time; they can't be used multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific type of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix that alters the name of the item to which it is used (for examplefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment with fewer Upgrade Crystals than are required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of the weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by buying them from the cash store for 500 upgrade item crystals each.

Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will be dropped during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're not sure of the extent to which it will increase after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it is likely that the item will become obsolete or even break when the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that double or even eliminate possibility of failure, as well as some upgrades that provide the benefit of being reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements which can be put in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, and include any existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as you can to level 15.

You will often find in the endgame that placing Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and offer a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to reach higher nodes much faster.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without any restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph with the same rank or higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the Glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the various Glyphs, and there are also a few rare glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

When you have the desired Glyphs, you will have to attach them to your equipment. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that boosts the stats of a specific set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.

Using a Glyph will boost all nodes connected to it, and you should aim to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. Druids for instance, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might be able to place them near their most critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the stats of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level which determines the final stats. Upgraded items may be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different number of components to be reached and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is advanced in level.

Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab in the crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrading an item. Once enough points are earned you will be able to claim the upgrade items and receive its additional bonuses.

When an item is upgraded by a player to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a different item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will get an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item comes with its own set of bonuses. This can be a downside in that the item could increase in price even if you don't require it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do this. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will come with a level 1 base and a totally different set of extra bonuses. This is useful for certain items, but it's not something that should be repeated often, as it can waste a lot of resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their equipment. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or is able to swim like a dolphin). This item can be upgraded several times and increases the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is extremely useful in PvP battles, since an item that is properly rolled it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.

Requirements

The upgrader for items allows players to raise the level of their equipment (armor, weapons trinkets, and weapons) above ilvl385 by presenting the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the base defense of the item, and upgrading weapons will increase the damage base and required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear that can have eight upgrades. Every each time you upgrade an item it is given an opportunity to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you go over the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can result in the item upgrade reverting to its original condition, which requires the player to purchase more resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.

If an item does not upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item will lose any bonuses it gained such as crit chance and attack damage, as well as all additional effects associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or reload speed). However, the player can still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

When an item Upgrader mod is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to the highest. This means that should a weapon gain an increase in crit chance the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the item's definition and the value is recomputed each time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its base value. For instance an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost. 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items have a lower cost per upgrade.

Premium items may have different upgrade requirements from regular gear. For example they may require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players must visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko in Central Flarine. Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade requires the use of different ingredients needed to upgrade.
