World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and PvE Damage.

If the weapon's upgrade template is %, it will increase an additional 3% of the previous damage for every time it is upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give a stat bonus or extra impact while they're being used. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot for them. The item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may include a suffix or prefix that alters the name of the equipment with which it is used (for instancethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions of the item using the smallest amount of upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level using standard methods.

A 'boost upgrade' can alter the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher tier version of the item will be revealed at the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of the extent to which it will improve following a subsequent reset.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process could be costly and there is a significant possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break when it fails; a failed upgrade will ruin Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item upgrader mod. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that increase or even eliminate the chance of failure, and some upgrades that offer the benefit of being reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes within the area around them, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we suggest getting them to level 15 as soon as you can.

It is commonplace to see in the final game that placing Glyphs is the Best item upgrade method to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded to level 15 and provide a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Glyphs, the sole upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions are the most popular. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values it can improve a stat by, and the value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a different Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs then you have to attach them to your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that will boost a specific set of stat nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.

Glyphs boost all nodes connected to them, which is why it is best to put Glyphs in key spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids, for example should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also want to consider placing them near their most critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the effectiveness of certain items by inserting upgraded components. This is commonly known as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned an amount that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum of 385 ilvl. Each item level requires different components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab of the crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields several Technology Points. These points can be used to level the item. Once enough are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player upgrades an item the original item will be replaced by a new item. The same armor will be upgraded to a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item upgrader kit will also have a unique bonus. This could be a drawback because it can make the item more expensive if you do not require it.

Upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do this. The item will be replaced by a brand new one that has a level 1 basis and totally different bonuses. This is a good idea however it should not be used frequently as it can waste resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value, allowing players to customize their equipment. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or does not swim as a dolphin). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time increasing the maximum roll by a factor of 10. This item can be very valuable in PvP, as an item that is properly rolled it can be worth between 20 and 50x its non-upp'd value.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to increase the quality of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader [lovewiki.faith blog post] NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of the piece, whereas upgrading weapons will increase the base damage and the strength and dexterity required to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade an object, it has a chance of failing. The failure rate increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures can result in the item reverting to its initial state and the player having to spend additional materials than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.

If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will be reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it gained like the chance to crit damage to attack, other effects (such as increased heal over time or reloading speed). However, the user can still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it receives a crit chance boost, the increase will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the item definition and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade. For example, a common equipment item may have five upgrades with a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.

Premium items could have different upgrade requirements from standard gear. For example they may require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. The player will still need to carry each piece of gear they wish to upgrade to NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each equipment upgrade will require different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the expenses mentioned above.
