World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

The upgrade of an item can be used to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can increase an item upgrade's Rarity or Mark Level and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's stats base increases when it is upgraded. This is the sum of all of its leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, depending on the upgrader you choose and what kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to the fact that many perks need to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.

Item level is a commonly used measurement of power and can be seen on all tooltips for items. It can also be used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is limited to the lower levels). Players can see their average level of item on their character sheet.

The level of an item can help players evaluate the potency of gear when they decide to buy or sell. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and the amount of damage it will be able to deal. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor can be done using the item level.

On your PC, you can see the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. It can also be found by hovering an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are many theories about how the item level is determined. One theory suggests that the item level is calculated using a formula that calculates how valuable an Best item upgrade's stats actually are. It takes into consideration that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in the sockets boost the value of the item. This can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is typically close to Blizzard's real item level.

This isn't the only factor that affects the value of an item. The degree of the area in which the item dropped can also alter its stats. For example it can add a level to the item's haste or crit score. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game uses a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the Best item upgrader." The base stats on a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modification that are in turn increased by the player's skill.

The upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. An item that is white or grey for instance, will only be upgraded one time, while an item with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times at higher costs.

Affixes can also be used to change an item's stats. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all shapes and sizes. The affixes are used to give items additional damage or special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to distinguish them by putting a name on them.

Currently, all affixes can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circles arrows. This procedure will cost the player a certain amount of gold and other items that can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other rerolling options.

Players can choose to upgrade an item with a specific stat, or reroll the affixes. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However, all items will have at least one stat within the same range, unless it's a unique item, or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.

This is another thing that could be changed by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. But as with base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item basis, and the interface for comparing items wouldn't show all possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the probability of obtaining items, the properties that are spawned by loot and the intensity of these properties. It doesn't, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players an opportunity to get better gear earlier in the game. This is especially useful for early game runs, because players tend to put weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances that increase with each item level. These can also be enhanced by using anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields, and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on their material type) to increase the value of 40 luck or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Moreover there are certain items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow, can be equipped to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items are available in the shop or constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are expensive and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item if it fails.

The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limitations on how much the success rates can be improved and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%.

The success of an can be affected by the Luck of that item. All items have an initial success rate of 25% and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory therefore enchantment glints and other effects can be obstructed by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
